Irish safety Tom Zbikowski remembers being a kid, walking into a room and seeing his mom crying over a check. He didn't really understand it at the time but it stuck with him to this day.
His mom was crying out of joy. The check was a charitable donation to help pay for a brain surgery for Tom's younger brother.
Since he's been old enough to put that day in perspective, Tom has wanted to give back to charity. Last month, he and his family put together a fantastic event that raised more than $49,000.
Recently, Tom decided where he was donating the money to. He presented a check for $20,000 to his head coach, Charlie Weis, for the Hannah & Friends charity. Hannah is Coach Weis' 12-year-old special needs daughter. The charity works to provide a better life for both children and adults with special needs.
