Not a even a move up to the 3A could stop the Jimtown tradition.
Last Friday night, the Jimmies---a powerhouse in 2A and 1A over the years--- beat rival NorthWood for the 2nd time this season to win sectional championship in their first year in 3A.
Jimtown is now one win away from returning to Semi-State.
"To get another win would be amazing for us," 2nd year Jimmies coach Mike Campbell said Wednesday. "That means you get a chance to go for the Super Bowl."
But Campbell knows getting to Semi-State won't be easy. The Jimmies (11-1) are hosting 9-3 Andrean at Knepp Field Friday night at 7pm.
The 59ers are on a major roll, crushing Culver Academy 48-7 last week in the sectional final.
Andrean's three loses have come against Merrillville (5A), Munster (5A), and Lowell (4A). Merrillville and Lowell are playing for regional championships of their own this weekend.
"We have our work cut out for us," Campbell explains. "Hopefully, the stars will be aligned."
"Our kids will play hard, but we do need some breaks---they are a very good team so everything has to fall into place."
