Exciting Start to HS Softball Season

After a 31-4 season that ended in the Class 3A championship last spring, the New Prairie softball team has high hopes for 2007.

The Cougars (2-0) got a tough early season test this afternoon against South Bend St. Joseph's (0-3). Kourtney Keck singled in the game-winning run in the 8th as New Prairie won 9-8 in extra innings.

The two teams were tied at three heading to the bottom of the 6th. Thats when New Prairie put up four runs to take a 7-3 lead.

St. Joseph's did not give in. They battled back in the 7th to score 4 runs of their own, tying the game at 7.

The Indians would take the lead in the top of the 8th, but New Prairie would come back with two runs in the bottom half to win the game.
