Irish win CCHA title in exciting fashion

Hobey Baker finalist David Brown was nothing short of outstanding down the stretch as Notre Dame turned away Michigan, winning the CCHA title, 2-1 at Joe Louis Arena. It's the first time for the Irish since joining the league.

Trailing 1-0, Notre Dame tied the game as Kevin Deeth found Erik Condra for the equalizer late in the second period. ND got the lead in the third when Jason Paige scored on a rebound. After that, it was up to Brown to stonewall the Maize and Blue as the Irish finished the sweep, winning both the regular season title and the post-season tourney title.

Brown was named the tourney MVP and was joined on the all-tourney team by Condra and Wes O'Neil. ND will find out where it was start NCAA play on Sunday afternoon when the bids are announced. The win for Jeff Jackson's team was the 31st of the season, a Notre Dame record.
