The Plymouth Rockies enter sectionals Friday night coming off back-to-back undefeated regular seasons.
The only loss for the Rockies over the last two years---to Lowell--their opponent this Friday night in our Pizza Hut Spotlight Game of the Week.
Plymouth quarterback Gordy Holloway said this week this is the team the Rockies wanted first because they haven't forgotten about the heartbreaking overtime loss to the Red Devils from last year's sectional semifinals at the Inferno.
This time Plymouth will be the host.
"That ride home last year," head coach John Barron began saying shaking his head. "It was about two and a half hours, your only loss in overtime is over there and it was tough just to get the kids off the field, change clothes and coming back to Plymouth."
Barron says not too many faces have changed this season for his Plymouth team. A lot of the guys who will face Lowell this Friday are the same ones that were on the field last October.
"It's a feeling that has motivated them all year," Barron said of his players. "I really believe that. Hopefully, we can return the favor and let them have a nice long ride home."
In fact, Lowell has ended Plymouth's season each of the last two years, also beating the Rockies in sectionals two years ago.
It's an 8pm kickoff for the Rockies and Red Devils at the Rock Pile on Friday night. The winner will face either Washington or Clay in the semifinals of the 4A Sectionals.
