Both Irish and Trojan fans packed Notre Dame stadium for Saturday's game. Southern California fans were severely outnumbered.
Life was not easy for some Trojan fans.
"A guy came up and just pushed my husband just because he's wearing red," said USC fan Cayla Suter.
"USC sucks!" shouted one fan at Suter.
"That's probably like an average reaction, that's not bad, that's average," Suter responded. "Then you get a little more violent people."
"They hate us...they have hard feelings because we always win," said USC fan Lauren Brooks.
It was a lucky day for two Trojan fans on Saturday, when fellow USC fans came to their rescue.
"We were walking around the stadium looking for tickets we did the trip and everything and some gracious U-S-C fans gave us tickets for free," said Marty Toth.
At the end of the day, fans from both sides agreed it was all mostly in good fun.
"They're good, they're allowed to be here, that's okay. They can be sad today when we beat them," Notre Dame fan Dave Pelc said during the game.
"They're nicer than UCLA fans, we don't like UCLA," conceded Trojan fan Liz Davis.
