Irish Icers bounce back with 3-1 win over Alabama-Huntsville

Kyle Lawson scored a short-handed goal with less than a minute left in the 2nd period as the Irish Icers beat Alabama-Huntsville 3-1 at the Joyce Center Saturday, a night after losing to the Chargers in the season opener.

Brett Blatchford scored the game's first goal, but was ejected for the game with a 5-minute misconduct penalty late in the 2nd period after a check to the back of an Alabama-Huntsville player.

The game was tied at one at that point, and the Irish caught a break with two straight penalties by the Chargers.

After both penalties ran out, Lawson scored off a rebound to make it 2-1.

Freshman Kyle Palmieri scored in the 3rd period to make it 3-1.

Notre Dame returns to the ice on Thursday and Friday when they host Providence at the Joyce Center. Both games are 7:30 starts.
