There is a definite buzz around South Bend that's very similar to the night before a big game at Notre Dame Stadium.

Enshrinement weekend, 2009 is underway, and it's a star studded class that will be honored Saturday night.

Lou Holtz was back on his former practice field Thursday night as he gets a team of former Irish standouts ready to head to Japan for a game on July 25th.

Lou sat down with WNDU and talked about the memories of his illustrious coaching career, which included 11 seasons of success at Notre Dame.

"When you go into coaching, you don't have any idea that you'll end up at Notre Dame, and you enjoy everyday you're here. But when you get a chance to really look back and you see the players and think about the games, the experiences, the religious atmosphere. You realize how fortunate you were to be at Notre Dame, and to be in the Hall of Fame is truly a blessing," explained Holtz.

"I'm most thankful that I was involved in the game of football, I learned more on the football field and in the Army then I ever did in any classroom by far," Lou added.

A lot of football fans remember Troy Aikman for his 3 Super Bowl titles with the Dallas Cowboys. Before he got the star on the helmet, he was a star as a loyal son of Westwwood at UCLA -- he's in the Pro Football Hall of Fame already, but this weekend is extra special for Aikman.

"I have never been to South Bend so I was looking forward to the trip. I've enjoyed meeting some of the people here, seeing some of the city and seeing some of the campus (Notre Dame)," said Aikman.

"The pro game was fun for me, 12 wonderful years in Dallas with the Cowboys, but it's a business. And in college you're still young, still going to school, still interacting with the student body and being apart of something beyond athletics. There is still a lot of pressure to win, but not quite the same," Aikman remembers.
