Some of the biggest names in Notre Dame football history were out at Warren Golf Course Saturday morning for the Hannah & Friends Golf Outing.
There was all-time great quarterbacks Joe Montana and Joe Theismann, Rocket Ismail, Chris Zorich and Mike Golic. And of course, there was the host, Charlie Weis.
Weis and his wife Maura started the Hannah & Friends foundation in 2003 in honor of their now 14-year-old daughter Hannah who suffers from Developmental Disorders.
The foundation has grown to support those with special needs in many areas.
"we want to do all we can to try and make their quality of life a little bit better," Coach Weis explains about those with special needs. "We try and bring awareness and compassion to people who are dealing with issues like this."
"We're just trying to do our part in society to help some people out."
Theismann is a big believer in the cause.
""It's great," Theismann said. "Charlie and Maura have done such a fabulous job in creating the farm and giving kids an opportunity to be able to have a life."
"The special needs children are exactly that---kids that need a little bit more help. This tournament provides a tremendous opportunity to have a normal life."
Theismann is a very good golfer himself while Golic is not. But somehow Golic always seems to find his team near the top of the leaderboard.
"I'm trying to learn so that at least now if I cheat, I'll be closer to Joe than if I played it straight up," Golic said with a straight face.
Of course.... "there's a reason I have an eraser on my pencil," Golic continued.
Ismail is not exactly a scratch golfer himself, but he did receive some fun tips from members of 5-some about duck hunting.
A lot of fun was had on the course and most importantly, it was for a great cause.
The Hannah & Friends Foundation has now raised more than $3 million since its inception.
