The South Bend Silver Hawks scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to break open a close game and defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 11-2 Saturday afternoon. The 11 runs set a new season high for the Hawks, while their 14 hits matched the best effort of this year.
The Silver Hawks sent 12 batters to the plate in the seventh, scoring seven runs against Wisconsin reliever Wily Peralta (ND). Justin Parker and Ramon Ramirez each had two run triples in the inning, while Chris Davis added an RBI double. Alberto Diaz and Rossmel Perez both picked up RBI singles for the Hawks, who turned a one run lead into an eight run lead with the offensive explosion.
Ramirez had a huge day at the plate for South Bend, as he also had a two-run triple in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. It was the second multi-hit game for Ramirez this season, and his first four RBI game for South Bend.
Parker had another big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and stretching his hitting streak to a team-high 12 games. Perez’s streak reached nine games with a 2-for-4 day.
The Silver Hawks go for the sweep Sunday at 2pm. It is Pink at the Cove Day in honor of Mother's Day and Breast Cancer Awareness.
