Behind the pitching of Trevor Harden, the Silver Hawks picked up their fourth straight victory Friday night, a 6-1 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Coveleski Stadium. With the win, Harden now stands alone atop the Midwest League leader board with five wins on the season.
Harden (WP, 5-1) tied his season-high with a 7.0 inning performance Friday, allowing just one run. The right hander scattered four hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Trailing 1-0, the Silver Hawks took advantage of some errors on their way to a five run second inning. With runners at first and third and nobody out, a throwing error by Wisconsin starter Evan Frederickson (LP, 1-2) allowed Victor Estevez to reach base safely, and tied the game at one. A walk loaded the bases, and a wild pitch gave the Silver Hawks a lead they would never relinquish.
Still batting in the second with runners at second and third, Alfredo Marte drove in two with a single to right for the 4-1 lead. Justin Parker capped the scoring in the second with a RBI double, putting the Hawks in front 5-1.
The two teams will battle Saturday and Sunday at 2pm at the Cove. Sunday's game is Pink at the Cove Day, in support of Mother's Day and Breast Cancer Awareness.
