With the Irish out of the running for the Sun Bowl, Notre Dame is having discussions Friday with four different bowl games. Posted: 12:01 AM Dec 5, 2008Reporter: Angelo Di Carlo Email Address: angelo.dicarlo@wndu.com |

With Rutgers crushing Louisville on Thursday night, the Sun Bowl is out as a possibility for Notre Dame.
At 6-6, the Irish cannot bump a Big East school with a 7-5 record from a bowl game the conference has affiliation with. The conference now has enough teams to fill its spots, all of which are at least 7-5.
But that doesn't mean the Irish aren't receiving plenty of offers.
Newscenter 16's Jeff Jeffers has learned that Notre Dame is in discussions with four different bowls as of Friday.
Here are the possibilities:
1) Texas Bowl against Rice on December 30th. This bowl is in a major city---Houston--- and in a NFL Stadium.
2) Independence Bowl vs. Louisiana Tech in Shreveport, LA on December 28th. This bowl would pay the most at $1.1 million per team.
3) International Bowl vs. Buffalo in Toronto on January 3rd at Rogers Centre (Skydome). This is the only bowl game played outside of the U.S.
4) Motor City Bowl vs. Ball State in Detroit on December 26th. This closet destination and would be against an in-state team at an NFL Stadium (Ford Field)
The Irish will hold their annual football banquet Friday night. Irish head coach Charlie Weis will address the media before the banquet. You will hear from the coach Friday night on Newscenter 16 at 11.
