The Harford County State's Attorney's office says former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Javin Hunter was sentenced to six months in jail for a fatal hit-and-run accident.

Hunter was sentenced Monday to a total of five years with all but six months suspended after pleading guilty to charges stemming from July 17, 2007 accident.

Ellis George Spencer Jr., 53, was riding a scooter on the shoulder of Route 40 when a vehicle struck him from behind. He died several hours later.

Hunter, 28, of Orchard Lake, Mich., was questioned about the accident after he went to a state police barracks the next day.

Baltimore drafted Hunter out of Notre Dame in the sixth round in 2002 but he saw little playing time. The Ravens later released him after he injured his right Achilles tendon.
