It should be an exciting week eight of Friday Night Football in Indiana and Michigan. Here are the games you will see Friday at 11.
Pizza Hut Spotlight Game of the Week:
Jimtown at Bremen
- Time: 7:30 p.m.
- Stadium: Bremen’s Don Bunge Field
- Records: Jimtown (5-2), Concord (6-1)
- Last meeting: Jimtown 26, Bremen 23
- Notes: The Jimmies and the Lions renew a rivalry that will guarantee at least a share of the Northern State Conference title. Bremen has not won an NSC title since 1994, and hasn’t beaten the Jimtown since 1995. The Lions have scored 171 points in their last four games, while the Jimmies have surrendered just 39 in that same stretch.
Penn at Elkhart Central
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Stadium: Central’s Rice Field
- Records: Penn (4-3), Central (2-4)
- Last Meeting: Penn 28, Central 14 (Sectional)
- Notes: Penn has been rolling as of late, winning their last four games, including tough ones over St. Joseph’s and Mishawaka. Central, on the other hand, is coming off one of their toughest losses in recent memory after falling to Marian 27-20 at home last week. The Blue Blazers have to go back to 1982 to find the last time they were able to defeat Penn.
Warsaw at NorthWood
- Time: 7:30 p.m.
- Stadium: NorthWood’s Andrews Field
- Last Meeting: NorthWood 37, Warsaw 35
- Records: Warsaw (5-2), NorthWood (6-1)
- Notes: The Panthers need a win in week eight to keep themselves in the hunt for a share of the Northern Lakes Conference title. NorthWood has scored 150 points in the last three weeks, including 45 in an impressive victory over Memorial last week. Warsaw won their last three straight NLC games by a combined scored of 89-21.
Plymouth at Goshen
- Time: 7:30 p.m.
- Stadium: Goshen’s Foreman Field
- Records: Plymouth (7-0), Goshen (3-4)
- Last meeting: Plymouth 21, Goshen 0
- Notes: Plymouth is in control of their own destiny in the NLC after beating Concord last week 27-25. The Rockies haven’t lost to the Redskins since 2003. Goshen broke a four-game losing streak last week with a 25-20 win over Northridge.
Churubusco at Fairfield
- Time: 7:30 p.m.
- Stadium: Fairfield High School
- Records: Churubusco (7-0), Fairfield (7-0)
- Last Meeting: Fairfield 30, Churubusco 26
- Notes: The Falcons have won 25 straight regular season games, and have the area’s leading scorer in senior running back Alic Vanover, who has 22 touchdowns this season. Both teams are unbeaten in the Northeast Corner Conference, and if Fairfield wins, they lock up their third straight NECC title.
Clay at Mishawaka
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Stadium: Mishawaka’s Steele Field
- Records: Clay (3-4), Mishawaka (5-2)
- Last Meeting: Mishawaka 49, Clay 23
- Notes: This match-up between Northern Indiana Conference members will not be counted as an NIC conference game, since the NIC only plays a six-game schedule. The Cavemen are coming off only their second loss this season, while the Colonials found the winning track, once again, beating Riley 17-8.
Lakeland at St. Joseph’s
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Stadium: Clay Field
- Records: Lakeland (5-2), St. Joseph’s (5-2)
- Last meeting: St. Joseph’s 35, Lakeland 6
- Notes: Both teams are coming off tough conference losses. The Indians fell to Washington last week 13-10, while the Lakers were dismantled by Fairfield 35-10.
Washington at Riley
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Stadium: Jackson Field
- Records: Washington (6-1), Riley (1-6)
- Last meeting: Riley 26, Washington 7
- Notes: Washington still holds an outside shot at a share of the NIC title coming off their biggest win this season – a 13-10 decision over St. Joseph’s. The Wildcats have been in a severe slide since beating Hammond Gavit in week three, losing their last four games.
