Silver Hawks return to Cove Saturday for game 3 of championship series

The South Bend Silver Hawks dug themselves a big hole Thursday, losing game two of the Midwest League Championship Series 12-0 to the Burlington Bees.

South Bend is down 0-2 in the best of five series and is on the verge of elimination. A loss in any of the next three games will give the championship to Burlington.

The Bees has outscored South Bend by a score of 18-0 in 2 games.

The Hawks are hoping a return home will turn their fortunes around. Game three will be at the Cove Saturday at 1pm. The game was originally scheduled for Friday night, but postponed due to rain.

Games 4 and 5 will also be at the Cove, if the Hawks can pull out wins.

The Silver Hawks have not been able to figure out the Burlington pitching staff. In 2 games, the Hawks have only managed 6 hits and have struck out 23 times.

Tickets are still available for Game 3. Call 235-9988 for more information.
