Stan, ssshhhh! the adults are speaking, simmer down now, clown. Don't use big words unless you can spell them. BTW, no fumes for me chump, I work behind the desk. Now quit screwing around, that french fry grease is hot, you might have an accident. Notre Dame sucks? Not anymore than you there Stan, you two big egg sucking chicken farmer. Have a nice day.

RIF, Stop inhaling the formaldahide fumes at the RV plant. Notre Dame sucks!

RIF, best wishes this weekend. I have a feeling the rain will not help either of us this weekend.

Rabid Boiler...I want to extend an invite to you. I will try my hardest to get 4 tix for the ND/PU game. If I do I will give you 2 tickets, GRATIS. Now, you (and a guest) would have to sit next to me, but, I won't be too obnoxious. (SUCK AN EGG LISA HORNE) Can you make it if I can pull it off? I am dead serious here. Look, I don't want to "get into it" with people, but, I WILL NOT BACK DOWN, EVER. That is just how I am. Good luck this season, JT deserves to be sent out right, he really has done a good job. Given what he has to work with, recruiting wise every year. As for ND fans calling for Ty to be fired after one bad season, I did not agree. But, after TWO and seeing his lack of recruting power, BYE,BYE. And like I said several times, if Coach Weis cannot get it together this season, see ya. I mean better as in OVER .500 this season. 8 wins min. is where I see the Irish in 08'. But, I have been wrong before!

Rabid Boilermaker, we are at each others throats now... Need I remind you that the Boilers are head hunting this season, and, for good reason. Send Tiller out on a good note, you have the weapons to do it. See, that is what makes me red, I have many times wished other teams nothing but luck. Yet, I get the ol' no vaseline treatment when I support my team, what gives? Hang on, Stan, SUCK AN EGG! OK I'm back, sorry. You see the lack of brains I have to deal with here? I would tell you to engineer me a samich, but, that would be rude. Mrs. Rabid Irish Fan can do that. Thanks baby!. As far as your ND sucks now comment, hold up, let us see what happens next week, if they are 1-1 after the weekend, I will be the first to say "uh-oh" even if they win "ugly", I will be worried. Look, I was at the game last weekend (thanks Fr. Smith) and from where I was, I saw promise in this group. OK, I am going to give props here, C. Painter, stud, good luck against Oregon, really, I mean that.

Posted by: Rabid Boilermaker on Sep 11, 2008 at 07:54 PM
We're on speaking terms now but I can tell in about 2 weeks we are gonna be at each others throats. Purdue cant ever win at ND though so I'm gonna keep myself calm since I know whats coming.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 11, 2008 at 05:57 PM
Boilermaker, so do I. I support the University first and foremost. I am not just a football fan I am a fan of NOTRE DAME. The school, the teams, the students the traditions and every thing else. And at the end of the day, I feel the same way about Notre Dame as you do about Purdue.

RIF, get your head out of your rear end!

Posted by: Rabid Boilermaker on Sep 11, 2008 at 04:47 PM
You talk about people calling for the firing of a coach after one season. Need I remind you that I am a Purdue fan, where we have put up with Joe Tiller for years and years. Sans 2001 the man has not had a great season. But I hardly ever hear people call for his firing. Sure, he is now the most winningest coach in school history, but that doesnt change the fact that he really hasnt been that good. Us Boiler fans just dont get as upset as you (not YOU you but most) Irish fans do and call for the coach to be fired after one lackluster season. ND sucks now, but they will be good again some day. Even I can admit that. I'll be sitting here steaming when they do, but I know it will happen. Just like Purdue will one day have another 2001-esque season.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 11, 2008 at 04:21 PM
One more thing, sorry. You said this is not an ND fan base web site. Well, W(NDU) Notre Dame University, and I know UND does not own the station anymore. Tell me this, why is it then that WNDU is "Your home for Notre Dame Football" Sounds like an ND fan base web site to me.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 11, 2008 at 04:18 PM
N, yes I am a Rabid Irish Fan, know why?? Well, because I don't call for the firing of the head coach after 1 bad season. I always stand tall for my team no matter what. Dude, when I don't go to the Stadium to see a game I stay home and blow off a mortar ball type firework when they score a TD. I have a big ol' ND tat on my shoulder. So, yes, I am a bit more into it than a lot of people I know. The fairweather fans bug the hell out of and I can't stand bandwagon fans either. And you think that just because you spout hate on WNDU it is OK because it is not strictly a ND fan base sight. I don't post on that other site you mention, so what? Hating is hating and you do it well. I have heard you express your opinion before and I respond, like it or don't, I could care less. Love your team, GREAT, that is what I do too. And you responded to my "suck an egg" comment in a vicious manner, I gave it back to you and now you whine, again. Boiler Up and SUCK AN EGG! and stop whining too.

Posted by: Rabid! ND Fan Location: ND on Sep 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM
Gee, RIF, now you are too much of a fan! They are running out of things to insult us for... things are looking up! You should only like your team somewhat? I guess calling us high and mighty and obnoxious isn't an insult in N's book. Because that would mean he is doing what hhe accuses us of doing, and that just can't be true... by the way, I like the sound of "Rabid Boilermaker" better than just plain 'ol N. Stick with it.

Posted by: Boilermaker Location: SB on Sep 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM
Hey Rabid, maybe we Purdue fans do not "accept mediocrity", but rather support our alma mater. Rain or shine, win or lose, we support the KIDS playing a GAME. I am a huge college football fan, but end of the day I know Purdue means more to me than a W. (Well, hopefully a W but you never can tell!)

Posted by: N on Sep 11, 2008 at 01:47 PM
RIF, I just want to point out to you that this is not a Notre Dame fan base site. This is a frickin' news site, where people can comment on news stories. It'd be different if I was going to, say, Irishillustrated.com and posting ND hate there, but im not. I'm posting on a news site where everyone with an opinion is allowed to express it. I expressed mine by agreeing with Lisa Horne and Jim Rome. And the fact that you so viciously replied back to my comments about ND fans being obnoxious kind of makes my point even more of a fact. Hell even your name points that out. You arent just an Irish fan, you are a RABID IRISH FAN. Regular ol' "Irish Fan" just wasnt good enough, was it? I might start posting with the name 'Rabid Boilermaker' just to start showing my extreme loyalty.

Posted by: Craig Location: Bremen on Sep 11, 2008 at 01:27 PM
Let me also add that both SOME UM and ND fans think their schools are the "Tradition" kings. Tradition is deep at both schools, but tradition fades if success isn't sustained. IF ND and UM rank #1 and #2, then, without a doubt, Ohio State ranks #3. Lots of arrogance there too! One thing about the rankings, if you'll notice, is that when UM or ND does get a high ranking, watch how far they always drop when they lose. Compare that to the Oklahomas, Floridas, LSUs. We seem to drop from 5 to 18 or so, while they drop from 5 to 8 or 9. The college footbal has cught us and passed us over the past 20-30 years and they aren't hesitating to remind us, partly due to fan arrogance. Um-ND= #1 and #2 all-time victories. The rest of the football world loves it when we fall!

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 11, 2008 at 01:03 PM
Craig, I won't speak about Michigan fans and how obnoxious they are or if they are or not. I don't stick my nose in others business. The only injustice in college football is when the Irish are ranked way too high in the pre season (meaningless) standings or if they get a BCS bid when they do not deserve it and I have seen that happen more than once. See, N, a Notre Dame fan keeping it real.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 11, 2008 at 11:50 AM
One more thing for you, N. When a program like Purdue and it's perennial suck status come into play. It is easy for you not too "rub other peoples noses in it" why? You are willing to accept mediocrity. That is fine by me, however, I take pride in the long standing history of Notre Dame Football and I am not one to pack it up and go looking for the next powerhouse to jump onto. And if you think that the Irish will never make it back to where they once were, well, that is just a silly thought and not very valid. All you have to do is look at the players Weis pulled in, even after a 3-9 season, that says a lot. That is what I think and if you want to hate on me for standing by my team NO MATTER WHAT, go ahead, hate away. That is obnoxious, plain and simple now go to a Purdue site and show your love for you team instead of whining about our fans.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 11, 2008 at 11:15 AM
N, please, get over yourself. You haters are the one who come into a ND fan base web site and begin to rip them, what, I should ignore it. Not going to happen. Majorly sucked the past three years, huh...9-3 and 10-2 is pretty good. And you have been here enough to know that the fans like NDF, Kim and I all have said ND sucked last season. Should we not be hopeful at the start of a new season? You need to get real here, you know better than that. The ONLY thing you are right about in your rant is the fact that Weis needs to shut his cake hole and WIN, WIN, WIN and if you would bother to recall, I ripped Weis when his "hell with Michigan" comment was made. So, please, you get off your high horse and stop making general statements about ND fans as these forums have shown time and time again, we keep it real, you know that. Also, who said that ND should be ranked #1?. I for one cannot stand pre season rankings, they mean squat. NDF, she did rank USC on that list. The way N acts, add Purdue.

Posted by: Craig Location: Bremen on Sep 11, 2008 at 11:09 AM
I have to say, I agree with Lisa Horne. I am a Michigan fan, but I know alot of UM fans are obnoxious. For the past 5 years there has been a fanbase established that would blog about firing LLoyd Carr because of his lack of beating Ohio Stae and taking UM to more National Championships. When your team (UM) consistently finishes 8-3 or 9-2 and the fans want the coach fired, then yes, they are obnoxious and arrogant! As for ND, I have lived in several communities in my lifetime and have NEVER seen so many haters within its own community! There is a reason for that. I have some good friends who are loyal ND fans, yet there are those that somehow think it is an injustice to college football if ND isn't competing for Championships year after year, as if they are the football gods. A lot of these old fools still live off the Lujack, Hornung, Four Horseman way of thinking and believe ND is almighty still. Those days have been over for decades!!!

Posted by: N on Sep 11, 2008 at 10:43 AM
"Suck an egg Lisa Horne" Why? Cant stand the bitter truth? You guys are obnoxious, plain and simple. 90% of the reason why I hate ND so much is because of their fans who think they are so high and mighty over everyone else because they like ND. Its annoying. I love Purdue football but I dont go around rubbing it in everyones face and pretending like my team doesnt suck when they do. ND has sucked majorly the past 3 years and everyone still acts, come the start of the season, like they are the second coming and will go undefeated and all that hoopla, when in reality nothing changes much with the team. Same goes for Michigan, they suck lately, yet their fans act like they should be ranked #1 no matter what. Everyone needs to get off their high horses and back down to reality. Lisa Horne was totally right, as was Jim Rome last night on Rome is burning when he said to Charlie Wiess "Win some football games, then you can be justified in saying things like "the hell with Michigan".

She obviously hasn't visited campus when USC is in town, RIF.

College football is experiencing what college basketball experienced starting in the 90's...the playing field is leveling. Everyone is on tv now and programs like Notre Dame and Michigan are no longer receiving all the focus. How about ECU and USF? Good stuff.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Sep 10, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Well, now I see we have something else to argue... Lisa Horne from Fox Sports has declared that as far as fan base is concerned...Michigan is #2 and Notre Dame is #1 as the most obnoxious in all of college football. Suck an egg Lisa Horne.

I think that ND should concentrate on football instead of their constant imbreeding

Posted by: Brian Location: St. Louis, MO on Sep 10, 2008 at 05:34 AM
For the record... anyone watch the video? Golden Tate's comments exude the fact that this is a young team who's ability is unknown even to them. "I felt like I was making giant steps (in practice). But until I lined up against another team I didn't know if I was really making steps or if I was slowly moving on. I feel like after this game I'm a more complete receiver and I can run all the routes." ND's growing and learning. Can you be a 9-3 team when all of your fres/soph are probably wondering about their ability, too? Allow these kids to grow up and pick them and CW apart next year if they don't produce.

Posted by: Brian Location: St. Louis, MO on Sep 10, 2008 at 05:25 AM
Fred - you left the stadium? You want these KIDS to have heart and play yet you abandon them as a fan? Where's your loyalty? ND has freshman and sophmores spread over 50% of the depth chart. What do you get with 19 year old kids? Inexperience. What does inexperience get you? Inconsistency. Here's something else... as an ex-FB player. Sometimes you "play down" to the level of the opposing team. I can't explain it. If you're facing an awful team, you just don't play as well. OSU did it this past Sat, but no one's talking about how inept they are. And they DON'T have a fresh/soph laden depth chart. I can't tell you how many people I've heard predict the Irish at 8-4 or better. With the lack of an upper class, that's just asking these kids to play near perfection. 6-6 is what we should be shooting for, 9-3 next season and contending for NC in 2010 when Claussen, Allen, Hughes, Floyd and our entire defense has experience galore. Keep the faith. It will be a bumpy ride this year.

let's go blue!

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 9, 2008 at 05:24 PM
We're still extremely young and inexperienced. We've got 18 year olds playing against 5th year seniors; whether it's SDSU or USC. We're still feeling the effects of Tyrone's recruiting. Except for be patient, what else can you say??

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 9, 2008 at 09:35 AM
They might as well call this game the "Has-been bowl." Get ready for another snoozer. ND looked like a high school team last week and M wasn't much better.

Posted by: BF Location: SB on Sep 9, 2008 at 09:25 AM
Unfortunately, they were about the only positives in the whole dismal game!! I am frightened for Michigan...we need help!

Posted by: Fred Location: Elkhart on Sep 9, 2008 at 07:15 AM
Here we go again! Another year of a sub par ND team? I am a die hard Irish fan but something has to give. Come on SDSU? The game should of been a blow out, but no it was boring and I left the stadium because I was sick to my stomach the way we played. Why can't the Irish play like the big boys anymore? watch OSU Vs. USC this weekend that is how the Irish used to play. Please Lord help these ND bring back the thunder of ND Football when being on that field used to really mean something about the team and not about the individual.
