Big Ten Recap: Michigan, IU, Purdue all win

Michigan avoided a 2nd straight 0-2 start and give Rich Rodriguez his first victory as the head coach of the Maize and Blue with a 16-6 win over Miami of Ohio at the Big House on Saturday.

Sam McGuffie rushed for 74 yards and the Wolverines defeats held Miami to just two field goals to pull out the win.

Quarterback Steve Threet had a 7 yard touchdown to run to put Michigan up 7-0.

With the score 10-6 in the 4th, Brandon Minor took his only rushing attempt of the game in for a 15 yard touchdown run.

Michigan is 1-1. They travel to Notre Dame next Saturday.
In Bloomington, Marcus Thigpen had two explosive touchdown runs as IU improved to 2-0 on the year with a 45-3 win over Murray State.

Thigpen ran for a 67 yard touchdown in the 1st quarter to put the Hoosiers up 7-0. He then followed it with a 31 yard TD run later in the quarter.
in West Lafayette, Joe Tiller's final year as Purdue's head coach started off just like he would have liked.

Curtis Painter threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns as the Boilers rolled over Northern Colorado 42-10.

Penn grad Frank Duong led Purdue in tackles with eight.
