Plymouth, Concord win big in NLC clashes

The Northern Lakes Conference had two big games Friday night as Plymouth hosted Warsaw and NorthWood entertained Concord.

All four teams entered the night with 2-0 records.

In our Pizza Hut Spotlight Game of the Week at the Rockpile, John Popi and Austin Hodges combined for 265 yards rushing and four touchdowns as Plymouth topped rival Warsaw 35-7.

Popi scored the game's first touchdown to put the Rockies up 7-0. The Tigers battled back with a score from Zach Linky to tie the game up.

But that was when Popi and Hodges took control, leading Plymouth to the NLC win.

In Nappanee, Concord showed they are one of the best teams in the state.

The Minutemen rolled over NorthWood 36-20.

David Yoder continued his stellar season as the Concord QB, connecting with JaVontae Hence for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter to put the Minutemen up 22-6.

LaRone Smith followed with a long touchdown run to make it 29-6.

Concord is now 3-0 and 2-0 in the NLC.

In other Northern Lakes action, Memorial beat Goshen 28-3.
