Notre Dame junior wide receiver Richard Jackson is leaving the Irish.
Head coach Charlie Weis confirmed the news Friday after meeting with Jackson.
"I talked with Richard Thursday night and again this morning to make sure he
had thoroughly thought this decision through," Weis said in a statement released by the University. "He informed me this morning that he intended to part ways with the program
and transfer to a school closer to home. We thank him for his time and wish
him well in the future."
A broken wrist in the 2007 Blue-Gold game forced Jackson to miss the entire season last year. He saw limited action in 2006.
He was listed as 3rd on the depth chart at the "X" wide receiver position heading into camp this fall.
