The high school football season is right around the corner, and this year the Lakeshore Lancers will be playing on a whole new gridiron.
The high school is putting in a synthetic turf field, thanks to community donations.
The superintendent says the much needed makeover will benefit all athletes, and not just football players.
The new turf should be finished by the end of next week, and many in the community can't wait.
"We think this is a great advantage for our kids, and they are excited. Right now, you can come out here, any day, and you'll see parents and kids looking at the progress of this field," said Lakeshore Schools Superintendent Don Frank.
The football stadium is also getting a new name.
It will be called Kohn-Lehmann Field at Al Stockman Stadium, after two Lakeshore families who made large donations.
Lakeshore's first home game is August 20th.
