High school football teams in Indiana are exactly two weeks away from playing their first game of the season.
But at John Adams, they are looking for a new head coach.
Elmer Britton resigned Friday morning after two seasons in charge of the Eagles program, according to Kirby Whitacre, Director of Athletics for the South Bend School Corporation.
Britton helped Adams snap a 32-game losing streak last year as the Eagles finished the year 5-6.
Whitacre says a difference in philopshy led to Britton's resignation, but would not go into anymore detail.
Multiple sources tell Newscenter 16 Britton met with Adams new AD, Bill Groves over the last day and that Groves asked Britton to meet a number of different things.
But Britton apparently was not comfortable with the request and resigned immediately.
Whitacre says the school hopes to name an interim head coach by Monday night and will conduct a full search for a permanent head coach after the season.
