66-year-old Gebo wins South Bend Golf Metro

Stan Gebo entered this week's South Bend Golf Metro a 4-time champion of the event.

But the 66-year-old hasn't won it since 1975.

Well, until Sunday.

Gebo produced birdies on 17 and 18 to beat Brandon Knutson by a single stroke to win the 2008 South Bend Metro at Blackthorn. Gebo finished the three round tournament at plus one.

Knutson shot a one-under 71 on Sunday.

2nd round leader Steve Ziolkowski shot a 45 on the front nine and finished with an 82. That left him tied for 7th.

1st round leader Dan Tobin, who entered the day two strokes off the lead, was playing well through 11.

Tobin birdied the 11th hole to move into a tie for the lead with Gebo. But Tobin blew up over the final 8 holes, finishing with an 80.
