Notre Dame's upcoming recruiting class just got a whole lot bigger.

6'3" 280 pound offensive Lineman Chris Watt of Glenbard West HS in Illinois has committed to Notre Dame, according to various reports.

Watt is listed as 5-star recruit by scout.com and the 2nd best offensive lineman in the country.

He is the 2nd 5-star player for the Irish in the incoming class of '09, joining running back Cierre Wood.

Watt choice Notre Dame over Michigan and Ohio State, among others.

Watt has played both guard and tackle in high school but most project him to play guard in college. He's ranked as the number two guard in the nation for the seniors-to-be.

Watt joins four-star commitment Alex Bullard to form the core of an offensive recruiting group that is among the best in the nation for the 2009 recruiting campaign.

Watt is said to bench press 225 with a 450 squat but his most impressive number is his 4.3 overall GPA.

He is the 12th commitment for 2009. National signing day is in February.

They probably will have the new A D to fire Charlie Weis.

Well Anonymous that is your opinion...If you don't want to read about ND football don't get on here and read about it...Yes there are games won and there are games lost...I for one love all ND sports win or lose...So go ND

The Bench Press number seems incorrect. 225 lb bench would be impressive for a 165 lb high school sophomore. For a 280 lb college linebacker, it is pathetic.

Notre Dame woman's tennis is more news worthy than Notre Lame football. Women's basketball and volleyball teams win games. The mens football team just sucks.

All the verbal recruits Notre Dame gets don't mean anything. Until Notre Dame dumps Weis and hires a coach they will still have the same problems as last year.

Just like "Jimmy" when they recruited him---Go Lions

It's just a news story saying ND picked up another football recruit, Anon, don't get your panties in a bunch. You can go watch woman's tennis at ND all you want. It's just not as newsworthy, no offense.

Who cares?!! Why not promote some of the women's teams - they always have a good basketball and volleyball team. Enough about ho-hum football.

What? You have heard what for the past 20 years? My point that seems to elude you is that even after last season we still pulled in arguably the #1 class in the nation. And we already have 12 more for next season which will likely be another top 1 or 2 in the nation, again. Go easy on the fire water there chief. What is funny is your also running your yap about the Cubs, who have the best record in all of baseball at this point, typical. Correction, they are tied with L.A. in the AL West.

Great to see Charlie building up the O-line. Yeah yeah yeah they still have time, blah blah blah. As RIF said, after a 3 win season we still signed 100% our verbals, so yes, there is reason to be positive. Then again, you haters are unfamiliar with the words "fan" and "positive".

Dumb to commit this early, has until February, had plenty of time to field offers from other schools and see how bad we are this year. Dump Charlie here comes another stinker of a season!

Yeah, Rabid, I have been hearing that for 20 years now!! And, I'm still laughing, and you domers are still saying the same thing. Just like a cubs fan...wait till next year! HA! Too funny.

They just keep committing to ND. With all of the anonomyi and Sheri types calling for the demise of the program I bet this just warms thier hearts. And yes, haters, I know they still have to sign. However, last time we were getting verbals like we are now (after last season) we still pulled them all in. If you look for these players to skip out, prepare to eat another plate of crow.
