Earlier this summer, 4-star high school recruit Marlon Pollard had an extra day after a camp in Chicago. He and his mother decided to drive the 90 miles to see Notre Dame. Marlon was already committed to UCLA but always wanted to check out the university and the campus.

Hello ND and so long Westwood ! Pollard was so taken with the visit to Notre Dame that he switched his verbal commitment from the Bruins to the Irish and announced it on Monday.

Pollard is 6'1, 165 and will play at Cajon High School this coming fall. He's the second-highest ranked senior to commit to Notre Dame after fellow Californian, Cierre Wood.

Pollard is the 10th high school senior to verbally commit to ND

Sheri, I just proved to you that since 1999 the Irish play a schedule that is on average the 15th toughest in the nation. Get a clue haterloo.

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 14, 2008 at 12:00 PM
Notre Dames "holier than thou" attitute & the thought that they're "Gods gift to the world" also pisses of alot of their non fans. Hotre Dame refuses to join a conference. They want to stay independent so they can pick & choose who they want to play. They always pick a schedule that is one of the weakest in the nation year after year. Notre Dame is the most over rated team ever.

Sheri, just stop, your arguments are weak and less than informed. Lou Holtz had a lifetime contract with Notre Dame, he walked away, his choice. Rockne and his record had nothing to do with it. The AD at the time tried to keep him there and could not. Everyone at Notre Dame was happy with the program as it was with Holtz at the helm, he had the opportunity to stay, he only needed 6 more wins to break the record. He left on his terms. Furthermore, take a look at the coaching world, many head coaches have been bought out of thier contracts early. That is why there is a BUY OUT CLAUSE in almost any contract. The program suffers, you make a change. Don't vilify Notre Dame for conducting business as any other school would and has. Phil, in my experience the "wimp" is usually the one running his mouth from behind a locked door or computer keyboard, take a deep breath and get your testosterone level in check there big fella.

Posted by: ND Fan Location: ND on Jul 14, 2008 at 07:02 AM
Yeah, Phil, the point is that these kids are committing to ND because unlike you dim-wits, they see more than football in their future. Then you get Sheri who throws out that ND is no longer the best Catholic University. My response was to that comment. But I don't see you lecturing her on the fact that we are not (I assume that's what you meant to say)talking about Catholic Universities, we are talking about football.... hmmm. You are just dwelling on last season, which is what close-minded people do. How'd we do the previous two seasons?

Posted by: Phil Location: South Bend on Jul 13, 2008 at 09:48 PM
Didn't take long for some dork to throw out "graduation rates."....Shocking that it came from an ND fan. They are the only school to throw that out because they have sucked at football for so long. Back when they were actually good (over 20 years and counting) you RARELY heard ANYONE mentione graduation rates, because frankly, who cares? We are talking about school or education, we are tlaking about football. I mean, graduation rates are a good thing, but it's a little like the class pipsqueek telling the class bully that he knows karate. Doesn't change the fact that you're a wimp. Sorry. Truth hurts.

For those of you who want to understand Sheri, I believe she means "they're" when she types "their"... and gay team... ha... good one... you just scream ignorance. You are digging your own grave, no one will take you seriously now!

Posted by: ND Fan Location: ND on Jul 12, 2008 at 04:46 PM
irish, you can't argue with ignorance. I guess a 96% graduation rate isn't good enough for Sheri. Not sure what "craped out" means, could you mean "crapped"? Kind of loses that zing if people have to try to make sense out of your comments. For every guy you name that may not be the poster boy for ND, I can name 5 that are. So bring it on, Sheri. I am not even touching SOS. We all know you're new here, Sheri, but been there, done that.

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 11, 2008 at 10:09 PM
The point is that ND gives contract extensions & then turns around & buys them out. ND is full of clowns! Notre Dame thinks their good at football. Their good for a gay team.

Posted by: irish in 2008 Location: michigan on Jul 11, 2008 at 04:41 PM
see what i mean you dont what your talking about...it was ty willingham that got only 3 years..not davies(which sucked).as far as N.C. teams yes your right we havent won one in 2 decades, but come with the havent been good since rockne..what about 1977 championship with montana...what about tim brown...give us a little credit..yes i know we havent been the top team in a while, but we will be back...hell were getting great recurit classes....you know what im done explaining myself...we will see how they do this year..GO IRISH!!!!!

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 11, 2008 at 09:50 AM
ND won a lot of games & some championships many decades ago. ND's football program craped out ever since Rockne died. The football program has been in the dumps the last two decades. They get rid of the best coach in recent times because he was going to break Rockne's record. Hire Davie & give him a five yr. deal. 3 games into the next yr. they fire him. They Hire George O'Leary, who lied on his resume. Does anyone remember these fine ND football players: Donald Dykes & Clifford Jefferson? Great recruitment standards ND.

you know its funny how everybody knows so much about notre dame....when they are not fans.notre dame will never join a conference.its about the money, not because there afraid...come on we play a least three big 11..i mean big 10 every year and up till a couple of years ago,we beat all of them.year in and year out notre dame has one of the toughest schedules unles michigan, purdue, michigan state,usc..etc..arent worthy, but hey we have a weak schedule right!and yes i know we play the millitary academies..but lets see air and navy have been to bowl games the last several years.what about app. state..oh what a minute there not even a 1A school, but notre dame has a weak schedule. and yes you have to have a good team and good players to win N.C. amd heismans...so sheri you are igonerant about college football.so get on year computer and do some more research before you say anything more about notre dame football or and team for that fact....good day and always GO IRISH!!!!!!!!

Sheri, I am sorry you did not get into ND, and I can help you find it on a map. Also, please get your facts straight, ND has a losing record on which planet? Which way can you twist that, Anon and Sheri? And you call us the ones that twist the facts? "Later."

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Jul 10, 2008 at 03:59 PM
Sheri must also shower in Hateraide as well. You must be a Michigan fan, good luck this season you will be feeling what we did last season. Oh and here is another brain buster for you Sheri since 1999 (the last year I could find in the database) the Irish rank 15.77 in the Stength of Schedule rankings and those are end of season rankings (the real ones). That is out of 117 major programs in the NCAA. Not sure how you call that an easy schedule. Lets us compare, USC in that same stretch is only 14.55, Michigan is 13.1, Ohio State is 17.11. We sure keep pretty good campany, don't we. GO IRISH!!!

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 10, 2008 at 11:06 AM
Marion, Notre Dame is not the best University in Indiana. Notre Dame is no longer the best Catholic university. Noter Dame always picks a schedule that is the easiest for them every year. Michigan leads at all time wins. You still have time to change your mind.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Jul 9, 2008 at 07:02 PM
Sheri had a bit too much of the Hateraide today. Bill hit the nail on the head and anonymous makes those comments just so it can claim a "just like I predicted" as it always does. Hey Eric, don't you also find it funny that Ty is probably done after this season if he continues to LOSE, just like he did at Notre Dame? Maybe NBC can give him a job announcing the Irish Football games on TV. Sheri one more thing "The fight song is just terrible, fortunately, we only have to hear it before the game." So you DO watch Irish football? I am sure it is to get a laugh, right? BC is a fine Catholic school, we, however, are just better Catholics. Get your laughs in now, you will be eating these words shortly and more than likely singing the fight song right along with us while you are watching the games like you already do. And mark my words, if Coach Weis has another season like this one he will face the same fate as the two clowns who made up the "Byrone Davingham" era. Zip it anon, not interested

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 9, 2008 at 04:27 PM
Marion you can still back out on ND. ND also stinks because their afraid to join a conference like the big 10. Maby because ND has a losing record against the Big Ten since 1994. ND's holier than thou attitude. Fourth & short Jesus. ND's exclusive TV contract w/NBC, yet ND forgets what Christ said, "It is easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24). ND's always over rated by the polisters in the pre season. ND's always over rated in final polls, check out their bowl record & they have only been to 27 bowl games. The favoritism given to ND by media idiots.

Posted by: Jake Location: Notre Dame on Jul 9, 2008 at 03:16 PM
Just saw Chris Watt on campus today. A five star OL, best offensive guard recruit in the country. He was in the admistration bldg getting enrollment info. He's commited to ND, and will announce in two weeks on his second official visit. Don't tell Ohio State fans, they are convinced he's coming there. Of course when they find out, they will say they never wanted him in the first place.

I love ND Football. It is the best comedy show on television today, We just love how your coach waddles out on the field

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 9, 2008 at 10:35 AM
Marion you still have a chance to say no to ND. ND has not won a bowl game in their last 8 attempts, and they have only been to 27 bowl games. ND's fan base consists of mostly of fans that could not get into ND & have no idea where ND is on a map. ND has a losing record & they have only been to 27 bowl games. ND Heisman winners are the product of popularity contests & not the product of best performance by football players. ND's "national championships" are the result of being popular & not the result of being the best team. You can be popular w/o being good, consider the popularity of McDonalds and soccer. Later

Hey sheri, Its too bad there is bias in reporting in the news when it comes to sports huh? Oh wait, this is wNDu maybe there's a connection. Excuse the sarcasm but every sports team, festival, little league and the like, enjoy a "home field advantage" but its only wrong if it's not YOUR home team. I see now. Go irish and everyone else (especially the ones I pay student loan payments to) college football is AWESOME. enjoy the overdue comeback of Irish dominance in the next couple of years too.

Posted by: MJ Location: South Bend on Jul 8, 2008 at 05:19 PM
Sheri, you must not know much about college football to spew such ignorance. Yes ND is ranked 14th in winning percentage in the last 50 years in FRONT of LSU and Miami. Those 2 teams are real pushovers huh? Didn't think so....You call BC a fine catholic school? They come here and destroy the visiting team locker room after winning acting like boys who have never been in that position? Yes fine indeed....Racism? You really don't have a clue there do you? ND has 5 black coaches on the football team. Why do people hate ND so much? Is it because they are fans of another team and can't stand ND? I don't like many other teams, but I would never be so immature to click on stories relating to them just so I could rant about how I do not like them. This young man is thinking about what is best for him. Maybe he will come to ND and maybe not. Maybe ND will prepare him for something in life after football. Who are you to judge him?

Posted by: dave Location: goshen on Jul 8, 2008 at 02:33 PM
if you don't like nd football, then don't pay atention.

Posted by: no matter... on Jul 8, 2008 at 02:33 PM
They stink and will get beat anyway. ND will never be what they once were.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 8, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Sheri, preach on soul sister. Finally someone speaking some truth. Don't worry. We will all soon hear about how all of the facts that you presented are untrue in some twisted fashion. Kind of like how teams fighting amongst themselves can be a good thing, but only when ND does it of course. HA! What a joke.

Posted by: eric Location: elkhart on Jul 8, 2008 at 02:10 PM
racist huh? how many black coaches has Ty hired since he left ND, ha maybe he's a racist. ND degree will get this kid a golden ticket to life.

Posted by: Sheri Location: S M on Jul 8, 2008 at 01:04 PM
Bad move Marion, ND stinks because: ND's record in the past 50 years is not in the top 10. ND fans cite their record of excellence, despite most of their success occurring when the Charleston was popular. The fight song is just terrible, fortunately, we only have to hear it before the game. ND has had major NCAA violations & went on probation for two years. ND has had several incidents of racism. ND represents itself as the Catholic Institution of higher learning, which is arrogant & untrue. There are many fine Catholic universities, such as Boston College & Georgetown. ND represents itself as the Catholic football factory. Perhaps someone should inform the domers that recently, Boston College has a better record & Boston College has faced a tougher schedule. Firing Ty Willingham after 3 years, yet letting Faust stay for 5 yrs. If you say this is a case of ND learning from their mistakes, then realize that Willingham had a better 1st year than Weis. Hiring O'Leary. Later.

High schoolers change their minds easily,he still has way to much time to count him as coming to ND.How many verbal commits have we lost before the declaration day? I think too many. Hope we get him and others though. Looking forward to ND football no matter what!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 8, 2008 at 07:57 AM
So, a days visit on campus was enough to make him change his mind, eh? Yeah riiiiiiight.
