On Tuesday, kicker Nick Tausch of Dallas joined punter Ben Turk as the latest rising seniors to verbally commit to the Irish. Neither Tausch nor Turk visited the ND campus but could not pass up the offer to join the Irish in 2009.
Tausch had been hearing from schools like LSU, Oklahoma and Oregon. Although none of those teams had officially offered him. He is the son of Terry Tausch, who was an outstanding offensive lineman for the University of Texas in the early 80's.
Nick attends Dallas Jesuit which is the same school that produced ND kicker Joe Unis, whose extra point win the 1979 Cotton Bowl against Houston. Dallas Jesuit also produced Joe's brother Tom, tight ends Dennis "Teja" Grindinger, Robin Weber and former wide receiver, Omar Jenkins.
