Penn, Goshen, Marian win Sectional Baseball titles

In took two days and 10 innings to determine the 4A Sectional Baseball Champion at the Cove.

After play was suspended Friday night in the 4th inning, Penn and Clay resumed Saturday and played a thriller.

In the 10th, the Kingsmen produced the game's winning running with a walk-off base hit to win the Sectional Championship 7-6.

When play was suspended Friday, the game was tied at 3.

Clay scored two runs in the 5th and a 6th run in the 7th to take a 6-3 leading into Penn's last at-bat.

Some poor fielding by the Colonials loaded the bases for Penn. Brian Lares then hit a bases clearing triple to tie the game at 6 and force extra innings.
At Memorial, Goshen defeated Central 5-2 to win its first Sectional title since the early 2000s.

Pitcher Brandon Farver shut Central down in the 7th with a strikeout and a great defensive play to seal the game for the Redskins.

Goshen started the day with a 3-1 lead as play was suspended in the 4th inning Friday night.

Jake Drudge hit a homerun in the 1st inning Friday to give the Redskins a 1-0 lead.
At Plymouth, Aaron Rodgers hit a grand slam and Marian scored nine runs in the 5th inning to beat Glenn 11-3 and win the 3A Sectional Championship.

Glenn jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but Marian pulled within two heading into the 5th.

That's when Rodgers drilled the grand salami to right field to put Marian up 5-3. The Knights scored 11 unanswered in the game.
