Carlo Calabrese plays like a throwback. He's a middle linebacker out of Verona, NJ who chose the Irish over Penn State, Rutgers, Florida and Boston College. Calabrese is 6'2, 247 pounds and runs a 4.7 in the 40-yard dash. He is also one of the top weightlifters in the Eastern U.S.

Calabrese uses his strength and quickness to dominate from his middle linebacker position. He hails from the same hometown as former Irish linebacker, Anthony Fasano.

Here's what Calabrese had to say about choosing the Irish and what Notre Dame fans may expect:

I hope that change is in the air for the Irish. I am excited about the great recruits we are getting in the future and am eager to see what Coach Weis has learned from last years disaster of a season. I do love summer, but can't wait for the fall! GO IRISH!

Anthony Fasano was a tight end, not a linebacker.

Even though it's early, it is pretty powerful, considering 100% of our verbals this winter/spring signed with ND.
