As part of the off-site series of Notre Dame football games, the Irish will face off against Arizona State on Oct. 5, 2013 at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The Notre Dame football team will begin their series of off-site games in 2009, with their first game against Washington State in San Antonio. The Irish will play one game per season at locations in states like Texas and Florida.
In a statement released today, Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White said, “We've approached these games almost as mini-bowl games. We expect our marching band to travel to these contests, and we believe these events will provide great opportunities for our constituencies to see our team play when they may be otherwise challenged to travel or obtain tickets for games in South Bend.”
The 2013 game will be the first meeting between the Irish and the Sun Devils since 1999.
This will also be the first time Notre Dame will play in the Dallas area since the end of 1993 season when the Irish defeated Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.
“We’re thrilled to have a chance to return to North Texas where Notre Dame football has had such a rich tradition, particularly through our appearances in the Cotton Bowl over the years,” said White.
The game will be played in the new Cowboys facility, which is currently under construction. It’s set to open in the summer of 2009 and will hold 80,000 fans.
NBC will have the television rights to broadcast the game.
