Clausen taking more of a leadership role

Last season Jimmy Clausen went through a lot.

Injuries, Injuries and then some more injuries.

Losses, losses and then some more losses.

But through it all the sophomore quarterback has developed into more of a leader on the Irish heading into spring practice.

"Last year guys were just looking at me to get the play," Clausen explained Friday in his first media session of the spring. "This year, coaches want guys to look towards me to help them out."

"Last year, I knew the offense but not to the point that I am now."

"I'm still getting more knowledge of the offense but if guys need help, I can be able to tell them what is going on and what to do.

Clausen's maturity has grown both in that mental aspect and physically. In addition to being 100% healthy, he also bulked up 17 pounds in the off-season.
