Irish rally to win in overtime against Oklahoma

It looked pretty dim for the Irish womens basketball team Tuesday night against Oklahoma in the NCAA second round, but no one told Charel Allen her ND career was to end against the Sooners.

Allen poured in 35 points as the Irish won in overtime, 79-75 at Mackey Arena. Oklahoma, which trailed ND by four at half, stormed back to lead by as many as seven down the stretch. But Allen and Ashley Barlow made key shots and Muffet's squad went 22 of 24 from the free throw line to gain the win.

Courtney Paris, the 2007 National Player of the Year, scored 24 for the Sooners but appeared to tire once the game went to overtime.

ND now faces Tennessee in the next round in Oklahoma City. The Lady Vols won easily over the Irish earlier this season.

After going 0-9 at Mackey Arena up until this season, Notre Dame went 3-0 on the Purdue campus in 2007-2008.
