Sharpley named Big East Player of the Week

Notre Dame's Evan Sharpley had only one hit during the 2007 baseball season as he concentrated on football. He'll still be on the practice field this spring but he's currently tearing up the baseball.

The pride of Marshall, Michigan hit .545, hit three home runs and drove in nine as the Irish swept Georetown over the weekend. Pitcher Eric Maust, who also punts for ND, was named to the Big East Honor Roll.

The Irish meet Ball State on Tuesday at Frank Eck Stadium with a 5:05 first pitch
