Irish Icers lose heartbreaker in OT in CCHA Semifinals

Notre Dame will not repeat as the CCHA Champions.

The Irish Icers lost a heartbreaker 2-1 in overtime to Miami (Ohio) in the CCHA Semifinals Friday night at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

The game was scoreless until 4:30 left in the 3rd when Evan Rankin scored to put Notre Dame up 1-0. It was Rankin's 1st goal in a month.

Irish goalie Jordan Pearce was poised for a shutout with 28 saves until Mitch Ganzak scored with 3.4 seconds left in regulation to the tie the game at one and force overtime.

Six minutes into overtime, Alec Martinez scored the game-winner for the RedHawks.

The Irish are a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament. They will find out Sunday if they make the field of 16.
