Every player who worked out on Wednesday at the Loftus Center for NFL scouts did exactly what they needed to do to improve their stock for the upcoming draft.

Perhaps the biggest mover was John Carlson. The tight end was ill at the Senior Bowl and was still feeling the effects of food poisoning at the NFL Combine in Indy. Now Carlson is healthy and it showed big-time. He ran a 4.67 in the 40-yard dash which is much better than his Indy time and certainly fast enough to move up on the draft charts. Carlson dropped only one ball during his one-hour workout. The two top tight ends in the draft (in addition to Carlson) are Purdue's Dustin Keller and Fred Davis of USC.

Tom Zbikowski looked to be in tremendous shape and is cut from head to toe. We're not talking lacerations here; we're talking tone and lots of
it. One NFL scout said that he would be surprised if Zibby didn't make an NFL roster but isnt' sure where he will go in the draft but he won't be a free agent.

Others working out were long snapper JJ Jansen, linebacker Joe Brockington, running back TRavis Thomas, defensive lineman Trevor Laws, linebacker Dwight Stephenson, and center John Sullivan.

Which anonymi is this again? I lose track.

Sounds like Rabid wishes he went to Notre Dame but didn't get in.

PENN STATE, that is what you give me and you went there, bull, you are a liar. I don't belive that for one hot second. And if by some stretch of the imagination or a real, real bad error by the Penn State admissions board you did go there, who are you to call ND Football weak, bad or otherwise, you have a walking corpse for a coach and your squad sucks. And if it does not matter what school you went to like you said below, then why are you questioning where we went, just like a hater, flipping and flopping about, nice. Wow, Penn State, way to go, now when you spew anti-ND crap I can see why need to be a hater. Ha! I bet you only picked Penn State because they are not that good and they beat ND in 07' so I guess you figure there is no way we would belive an answer of USC or OSU or any other top 10 school, but, Penn State maybe and you save a little face by claiming a win last season, noble.

Of course if you really want to break it down with the Nittany Lions, they have not won a championship since 1986. They only won 5 games in 2000 and 2001 with even worse records in 2003 and 2004. They finally started having better luck in 2005 and had a good season last year as well. So I guess your team has suffered its hard times as well.

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Apr 1, 2008 at 03:45 PM
It doesn't matter...just in your own minds. Just another feeble excuse.

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Apr 1, 2008 at 12:52 PM
Penn State has a good football team there is no doubt about it..........about time you said where you went.........but it does explain a lot.

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Apr 1, 2008 at 08:54 AM
PENN STATE....AND I WENT THERE! Since this is a Penn State website...oh wait its not. Just another weak attempt to change the subject from some pathetic wannabe ND fans. Your all sad really

Thanks RIF. No Greg, I did not know all the stats off the top of my head, but I am intelligent enough to know how to research things before making ignorant comments such as you have. I did know about many of the awards and that he lead the team in most tackles and that he was MVP, evidently more than you knew. From the rant you posted, you certainly do not like having a woman know more about football than you. Male chauvinist is an understatement! By the way, Trevor is thought to be a 2nd round pick and is ranked 4th out of 149 DTs. So now what smart guy? Where does your statement stand now? Give it up! If you want to try to prove you have any knowledge of football and player talent, at least learn what the h*** you are talking about first! I told you RIF, correspondence schools don't have teams! Wait, maybe we are giving him too much credit......he doesn't want to name his high school team.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 31, 2008 at 10:12 AM
Wow, what a foolish rant you just posted, how brave. The only joke here is you, only morons who have never once made a post that has any actual facts behind it sit and dog someone who does. You probably don't hold the skills to do the same thing Kim did. Also, tough guy, WHO IS YOUR COLLEGE TEAM?, Coward, won't answer that question, but, you have no problem spewing ignorant commentary, clown. I guarantee Kimberly did not know that info off the top of her head, I would not have either, SO WHAT? Did you get told NO quite a bit by the ladies early in life? It is a shame you would try to insult a woman like that, what a ****. Well, Kimerly, take solice in the fact that you probably have a guy to cuddle up to at night, Greg on the other hand has a National Geographic and a bottle of lubriderm. Greg, come on, don't be a little girlie boy, state your team, your affiliation to that school and also tell us how proud you mother must be of the way you speak to women, you need another spanking?

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Mar 31, 2008 at 08:42 AM
Kimberly, you are the moron. Every post of yours convinces me of it more. I am still laughing. I am going to read your post every time I need a laugh. All you did is searched out his stats, most likely from an ND sports website. Well done! Use that college education to pretend like you know some things. Correct me if I am wrong. Go ahead and tell me that you just knew all that off the top of your head. Besides, you can post all that ND awards and stats that he recieved, still doesn't mean anything in compared to other schools or pro-ball type play. Stick to what you know best. Talking with the girls in the kitchen while the boys watch football. You are a complete joke!

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Mar 28, 2008 at 07:37 PM
By the way, I think I forgot to post my name on the lesson on Trevor Laws. Just wanted to make sure you knew who knows what Greg.

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Mar 28, 2008 at 07:35 PM
By the way, here is a lesson on Trevor Laws 2007 career with N.D. He was named the Notre Dame Monogram Club Most Valuable Player and received the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley Rockne Student-Athlete Award…Academic All-American second-team and Academic All-District V first-team choice by ESPN/CoSIDA…Served as one of four team captains, earning Irish Most Valuable Player honors…Led the team with a career-high 112 tackles (53 solos), as he was the only down lineman in the major college ranks to post 100 or more tackles during the 2007 season…Led the Irish with four sacks for minus 31 yards, eight stops for losses of 44 yards and seven quarterback pressures…Recovered two fumbles and deflected five passes…Also blocked three kicks while starting all twelve games at left defensive tackle in the team's new 3-4 defensive alignment. So who is the moron Greg?

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Mar 28, 2008 at 07:10 PM
Greg, I would address the class issue, but I don't feel like waisting my time. You would actually have to understand class in the first place, which is obvious you don't. I bet you took correspondence courses on the internet didn't you? That's why you won't say what team you support, they don't have a team! You would have failed miserably in the language arts due to your wonderful spelling you have displayed on these blogs had you actually attended college. Again my affiliation with the University is not suspicious, it is fact. My Family has been involved with the College for decades. No, I did not attend Notre Dame per my choice. That does not mean I don't love what they stand for and support my favorite college team. By the way, I also cheer for FSU. I didn't attend there either.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 28, 2008 at 11:10 AM
Oops Stadium, not Stadiumn. Hope I caught that before you did, how embarrassed I feel, no, wait, that's just a little gas (burp) ah, better. See, we can all address our mistakes, when are you going to, Greg?

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 28, 2008 at 09:27 AM
I did address your "class" issue, by showing you that by firing at me first, you lost that argument from the jump. When my kid spills his milk, he gets a paper towel and cleans it up, why, did you get your *** kicked for that? Sorry, about your childhood. I notice you have yet to address the issue of which school you pull for and/or went to. You must be aware that when you post or if you do post your school we will be all over it. When you do, please, also tell us your affiliation (not affilliation, your school must be proud) to that school, I can't wait. I'm getting my hand strong for your daily and well deserved slapping. You made an valiant (not valient) attempt at sounding like you took Tony Montanas' advice by "trying to stick yo head up yo ***" Yeah, I guess all of that time I spent in the press box at ND Stadiumn and on the field during the games can be done by just anybody, huh, when was the last time you saw the game from the sidelines or the press box? Or am I a liar?

Posted by: Slade Location: Mishawaka on Mar 27, 2008 at 09:59 AM
Greg, I'm a Cub's fan, but I never played for the Cub's, nor did I ever lived in Chicago. Also a Bear's fan, and a Colts fan but never played football nor lived in Indy. So I can not be a fan of theirs. I also cheer for West Virginia and Purdue and went to neither school. I was in the NAVY and I NEVER cheer for them. I went to IUSB and I NEVER cheer for them. So in your opinion if you didn't attend any school you should not be a fan. When in your opinion can you be a fan?

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Mar 27, 2008 at 08:10 AM
I notice neither of you addressed the "class" comment. But, RIF, you did make a valient effort to prop up your own ego. "I smack the crap out of you in return." I literally laughed out loud when I read that. You do think highly of yourself don't you. Tell me, what do you do when your kid spills his milk? Afilliation with the university....riiiiiight. That doesn't sound suspect. Bunch of wannabes.

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Mar 26, 2008 at 07:51 PM
Greg what does it matter what college one attended? Yes, I did attend college, not that I have to defend myself to the likes of you. I do have affiliation with the University and have for over 25 years. I am a die-hard fan of the Irish and always will be. A person does not have to attend a college to be a fan of the team. What kind of mentality is that if you think a person had to attend to be a true fan? Can't you come up with a better defense than that?

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 26, 2008 at 01:02 PM
Greg, your such a clown. Again, you make as much sense as a crackhead on gov. check day. Talk about insults, thats what you do best "RIF, way to say about of stuff without saying anything....I bet you are republican too! I don't blame you for your shame..." sounds like you fired first (and missed). So typical, you hit me, I smack the crap out of you in return and then you whine like a girl. I can tell by the way you spell and try to act wise that HS may have been a challenge for you (ged?). And why is it that when haters lose, as they usually do, they try to say that old "well, I bet you did not go to ND". Is that the only way a person can be an Irish fan? What college team do you support? I bet you did not go there either. As far as my affiliation to the University, I won't say exactly, but trust me I am not a "wannabe fan". I know many people who are not Alumni, but, are huge supporters of ND. BTW, when was the last time you made a $$ donation to a college you did not attend?

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Mar 26, 2008 at 12:00 PM
As per usual, Irish fans resort to insults and name calling....Tsk Tsk....What happend to all that "class" i am always hearing about. Ooooooh...I get it now. I'd bet anything neither of you even went to ND...in fact, your high school graduation was about the peak of your careers eh? Look, I'm sorry that the team that you have absolutely no affiliation with but have die hard support for out of a wanna-be status, sucks, but hey thats the breaks. Better luck next season...Yeah Right!

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 26, 2008 at 11:09 AM
Outhouse, he could make a mess of that. No, I think depends are more in line. He must be ever so excited that the Arakansas Hillbilles are in town (The Clintons, Greg) that he forgot how to write sentences.

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Mar 25, 2008 at 08:42 PM
Greg, give it up! Laws had an outstanding season! Zibby did not have as great of a season as he did the previous years, but still had a good season! Greg can you please clarify this utterly profound sentence...... "RIF, way to say about of stuff without saying anything." I think you may have mastered the fine art of saying nothing. RIF does this mean he would use an outhouse instead?

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 25, 2008 at 04:40 PM
What in the hell are you trying to say? You make no sense at all. Republican, not sure what that has to do with anything, I guess you just wanted to tell us all your a Dem? Slade, I doubt he has a job, I would not hire someone who cannot make a sentence, he said shame, I guess, on his teachers.

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Mar 25, 2008 at 02:56 PM
RIF, way to say about of stuff without saying anything....I bet you are republican too! I don't blame you for your shame...

Posted by: Slade Location: Mishawaka on Mar 25, 2008 at 01:37 PM
Mitch and Greg, whats wrong? Did they take the bathroom stalls down where you work and you have no other place to write your crap other than here? I'm putting my money on that all of them will be drafted at one point. They all may not make it past the tryouts, but I say they all will get a chance. Hey! I hear they have some bathroom stalls to write on at the local truck stop.

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 25, 2008 at 11:36 AM
Yeah, funny, like all you haters who claim to hate ND so much, yet, you still come here and pay attention to the Irish. I guess that is not funny, it is sad and typical of the hater nation. Greg, get over it, you are just like all the rest.

Posted by: Greg Location: SB on Mar 25, 2008 at 08:37 AM
Zibby, Carlson, Laws!?!?! YOu morons are the only ones diluted as per usual. What a great season those fellas had last year. HA! I can't wait to hear all you idiot domers talk about "how awesome" this year is gonna be. ALLLLL the same crap I heard last year and look how great that turned out. Keep on crying dorks...keep on...its funny!

Posted by: Rabid Irish Fan Location: Standing Tall on Mar 24, 2008 at 02:39 PM
Mitch, Greg, dude pass that this way, whatever you have rolled up has got you just noodled, huh. Carlson, Laws, Zibby, need I say more? And Mitch, who is "us" if you mean US, like "us fans" any Notre Dame fan would never make a lame brained comment like that, unless, of course, Cough, cough, hack, hack, they were stoned. And even then I have my doubts, so are you stoned and ignorant or just ignorant.

Posted by: Mitch Location: Mishawaka on Mar 23, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Are you kidding me..they don't have any NFL material from last season. Matter of fact..NFL, take Charlie back, he has been a complete joke for us.

Posted by: Kimberly Location: South Bend on Mar 23, 2008 at 09:30 AM
Wow, what a profound thought process Greg. I suppose you are the "cream of the crop" and can play the game better than anyone. Get a life! Those guys are great athletes! Go Zibby! He will be fun to watch in the pros! Glad to hear Carlson is doing well too! GO IRISH!

Posted by: dan Location: tampa on Mar 23, 2008 at 12:30 AM
Greg...get a grip dude...no need to be a hater. You're ignorant. Zibby will be a good contributor...he bit on the runs but had to do so. He's fit and fast and tough as nails and will contribute on special teams. He's a good fit, likely 3rd/4th round. Carlson is definitely in the top 3 tight ends nationwide. He'll contribute right away and will fit into any pro scheme. Laws will be day 1 starter. He does not have the prototypical body but he is experienced and plays well beyond his measurables. Check at the end of this NFL season whether or not he stacks up. Likely late 2nd or early 3rd rounder. Look at the recent players to come out..Nduk, Mo, BQ...none of whom are busts (at least at this point). Please educate yourself about the state of the ND union prior to making absurdly ignorant posts.

Greg, don't you have a floor to sweep?

Posted by: Jack Location: Barrett on Mar 21, 2008 at 02:06 PM
"OH yeah, the real "cream of the crop" coming from ND. What a joke...why would any team want any of those players? They dont know how to play the game." This is the type of statement that makes me rethink my stance on abortion. Where do these geniuses come from? Carlson, & Laws will be gone by the end of the 2nd round and Zibby will stay in the NFL for years. All of those players were on multiple 10 win teams. This guy sounds like a jealous fan of some team that is jealous of ND's history and future. Three recruiting classes in a row ranked in the top 10. The future, as with the past, is as bright as can be. GO IRISH!!!

Posted by: ND Fan Location: ND on Mar 21, 2008 at 08:16 AM
Ignorant.
