IU loses to Minnesota at the buzzer

So much for a Purdue-Indiana Big Ten semifinal game.

Minnesota's Blake Hoffarber caught a long pass with 1.5 seconds left Friday night, spun away from a defender and hit a 14-foot left-handed shot at the buzzer to upset No. 22 Indiana 59-58 in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals.

The Gophers advance to Saturday's semifinals where they will face Illinois. The Illini defeated Purdue in overtime.

Minnesota jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the game.

The Hoosiers battled back to pull within seven at the half.

Indiana tied the game at 36 in the 2nd half.

DJ White scored 23 points and Eric Gordon added 16 in the loss.

Hoffarber scored just five points, but nothing was bigger than the game-winner.

Damian Johnson led Minnesota with 17 points.
