Irish Icers lose to Ferris State in game one of CCHA playoffs

Ferris State scored two goals in the first seven minutes and the Irish Icers were victims off a tough call in the 2nd period as the Bulldogs defeated Notre Dame 2-1 in game one of the best of three series in the CCHA playoffs on Friday.

Cody Chupp scored four minutes into the game and Justin Menke added another Bulldog goal 3 minutes later to give Ferris State an early 2-0 lead.

With 11 seconds left in the 1st period, Ben Ryan came up with a huge goal for Notre Dame to pull the Irish within one.

In the 2nd period, Ryan appeared to have tied the game but a split second before the puck entered the net a whistle blew the play dead. A referee called Ferris State for a high stick receiving the puck and ruled the play dead.

Notre Dame could not bounce back from there.

Game two is Saturday night at 7pm at the Joyce Center. A loss for ND ends the series, a win forces game three on Sunday at the Joyce Center.
