Jeff Gordon grabs pole position for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race
Qualifications for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race were held this week at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia.

Qualifications for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race were held this week at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia.

After suffering a bone-jarring crash last week in Las Vegas, Jeff Gordon was back in top form. He was the fastest driver in the field, and easily beat out Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the pole position.

South Bend’s Ryan Newman will start the race, appropriately enough, in the number-12 spot.
