Eli Manning connected with Plaxico Burress for a touchdown with only :39 left in regulation to give the New York Giants a 17-14 win in Super Bowl XLII and in the process ends the Patriots season at 18-1. New England had been looking to become the second NFL team to go through a season without a loss.
Tom Brady and his offense never really got in sync until scoring with just under 3:00 left in regulation. The biggest reason was that the Giants front led by Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan were constantly in the face of Brady as constant pressure was applied.
Down by four, Manning took his team down the field with a key play being a strike to David Tyree on 3rd and five. Tyree went high to grab the ball off his helmet to keep the winning drive alive.
It's the third Super Bowl title for the Giants while the Patriots were denied going for their fourth championship. Manning was named the game's MVP.
