Have Fun, Play Hockey!
That was the theme at the Joyce Center Saturday as the Irish Icers played host to a clinic for kids ages 5 to 11.
80 kids participated in the event, which was free.
And it was clear everyone had fun.
The only thing that wasn't clear, was who had more fun: the kids or the players.
Senior forward Evan Rankin spent a majority of the time with 6-year-old Sonya Lunya.
The two shared a special bond as Lunya sat in a drove and was driven around by Rankin en route to scoring 25 goals!
Rankin said seeing all the joy and excitement in Sonya made the day so worthwhile for him.
5-year-old Tomais Hunt also had an experience to remember for a long time.
Tomais received his lessons from Kevin Deeth, among others.
Deeth says the enthusiasm and energy Hunt showed reminded him of what it was like when he was a kid learning to play hockey.
