Kyle McAlarney scored 30 points and Luke Harangody had a double double (25 points, 10 rebounds) as Notre Dame won its first road game of the season, 90-80 at #18 Villanova.
With the win, the Irish improve to 4-2 in the Big East. Their two losses were both on the road at Marquette and at Georgetown.
After trailing 4-0, Irish senior captain Rob Kurz, a Philadelphia native, led ND on a 10-0. Kurz finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds.
Dante Cunningham tied the game at 15 with 13 minutes left in the 1st half. Cunningham, one of Villanova's top players, was held to just 7 points in the game.
The Irish then went on another run. This time it was another Philadelphia native, Ryan Ayers, hitting a key 3-pointer as ND scored nine consecutive points to take a 24-15 lead.
Ayers, was coming off the bench after coach Brey elected to start Zach Hillesland in his place. The junior scored 10 points off the bench.
Notre Dame led by 10 at the half.
In the 2nd half, Ayers hit another 3-pointer to give Notre Dame its biggest lead of the game 57-41.
Notre Dame is 14-4 overall.
The Irish will play its next two games at home, beginning with Providence on Thursday.
ND puts its 31-game home win streak on the line in the game.
