DePaul shot over 70 per cent in the first half but it was 9-0 run early in the second half that was just enough for the Blue Demons to clip Notre Dame, 81-80 in women's hoops Tuesday.
Ashley Barlow had 23 and Charel Allen added 17 but the Irish just could not re-take the lead down the stretch despite foul trouble on DePaul. ND missed several free throws that would have tightened the game but the Irish just could not get the shots to fall.
Notre Dame had the chance to win after a DePaul turnover under the Irish basketball with :04 remaining but Allen was forced into a turnover and the Demons began the celebration.
Muffet McGraw was visibly upset after the game saying her team was the worst in the Big East when it applies to defense.
Notre Dame is now 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big East. Top-ranked Uconn comes to the Joyce Center on Sunday
