Friday morning, Congressman Joe Donnelly, Coach Mike Brey, and the Notre Dame men’s basketball team met with troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
The basketball team is in Washington for Saturday's game against Georgetown, but flew in early in order to have time to visit the troops.
“I was honored to be invited to tag along with the Notre Dame men’s basketball team on their visit to our troops at Walter Reed. I am proud that our young men made it a priority during their trip to Washington to visit with our wounded warriors,” said Congressman Donnelly.
Congressman Donnelly and the basketball team met with the wounded warriors and listened to their stories about their service in Iraq and how they were injured.
They were also able to accompany many of the injured servicemen and women to physical therapy.
The team talked about their season thus far, and their hopes for victory against Georgetown on Saturday.
