No revenge: Irish Icers fall to Spartans

Last March, Michigan State beat Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament and went on to win the National Championship.

The Irish Icers have been left to think what if? What if they weren't coming off multi-overtime win over Alabama Huntsville the night before.

Would Notre Dame then go on to win the National Championship?

The Irish finally had their chance for revenge on the Spartans Friday night in East Lansing.

But the 9th ranked Spartans scored two goals in the final 2 minutes of the game to give Michigan State the 3-1 win.

The loss drops the 6th ranked Irish out of a 1st place tie in the CCHA.

Michigan and Miami (Ohio) both won Friday are now tied for first with 24 points.

Notre Dame is two points behind in 3rd place.

Michigan State is one point behind the Irish in 4th place.

Kevin Deeth scored the lone Irish goal in the 2nd period to the tie score at 1.

The home and home series now shifts to South Bend. The two will battle at the Joyce Center Sunday at 4pm.
