Brey's Irish using Top 25 snub as motivation

Notre Dame is 12-2, winners of 10 in a row and have won their first two Big East games against West Virginia and UConn.

Despite that, the Irish were left outside the Top 25 when the polls were released on Monday.

"I kind of like it quite frankly," head coach Mike Brey. "It keeps you on edge a little bit."

"When they were picked 9th in the pre-season poll, they had a chip on their shoulder. If they continue to play that way, that's a good thing."

The players see it the same way. They are using this as motivation.

"It keeps us hungry," senior captain Rob Kurz says. "I think it's good that we are not ranked."

"We are 2-0 but we still have a lot of work left. In way it's a blessing."

Kyle McAlarney agrees.

"People still aren't giving us the credit we deserve," K-Mac says. "That's a good thing. I want to keep it that way. We like to play that way."

Notre Dame will face its first road test of the season on Saturday at #16 Marquette.

A win and the Irish will almost certainly crack the Top 25.
