Jayhawks win Orange Bowl

It matters not that the University of Kansas is known as a basketball school, the football program in Lawrence is alive and well. Mark Mangino and his team finished the season with a glittering mark of 12-1 after winning the Orange Bowl, 24-21 over Va Tech on Thursday.

The Jayhawks jumped to a 17-0 lead scoring touchdowns on a pass interception and 13-yard scoring strike from Todd Reesing to Marcus Henry. The Hokies got back into the game as they usually do by the play of their special teams. Justin Harper returned a punt 84 yards for a score.

Just last year, KU was 6-6 before going unbeaten until the final game of the regular season when the Hawks lost to Missouri.
