Clay beats Memorial in girls hoops

Two of the area's best girls teams, 9-2 Clay and 8-2 Memorial battled in the opening round of the South Bend Riley Classic.

The Colonials took a ten-point lead into the 4th quarter.

Memorial cut the lead to six on an Akyah Taylor basket.

Clay responded with a 7-0 run. Retha Owens led the way in the 4th as Clay went on to the 71-59 win.

In other day one games, Michigan City beat Riley 97-46 and Marian defeated Concord 46-45.
