Fewer than four months after he was paralyzed from the neck down, Kevin Everett is defying the odds.

His doctor had said the prospects of a full neurological recovery were "bleak" and "dismal" after the Buffalo Bills tight end suffered a severe spinal injury while delivering a tackle September 9th.

But today, the 25-year-old Everett walked to the Buffalo field where he made that career-ending tackle. He spoke to his teammates two hours before their game against the New York Giants. It's the latest step in a remarkable recovery.

Rookie Bills quarterback Trent Edwards says he was on the verge of tears when he saw Everett walking toward him.

Everett sat in the owner's box, where he was immediately recognized by fans and concession workers, who began applauding.

The ugly weather kept Everett from going on the field to address the fans during halftime.

The Giants won the game, 38-21.
