Tyrone Willingham fired defensive coordinator Kent Baer and assistant coach Bob Simmons on Monday. Both Baer and Simmons were with Willingham when he coached at Notre Dame.
Baer had coached with Willingham at both Stanford and Notre Dame. The Huskies defense had major problems this season losing a three-touchdown lead on two occasions against Hawai'i in the season finale.
Simmons who was formerly the head coach at Oklahoma State joined Willingham's staff at Notre Dame and went with him to Washington in 2004.
