A 1944 graduate of Notre Dame, who donated over 35 million dollars to his alma mater, died Thursday in Columbus, Ohio.
Frank Eck was an avid Irish sports fan and many of his donations were directly tied to athletics at ND. His name adorns the baseball field and tennis pavilion in additiion to the alumni visitors center. His most recent gift was one of 21 million dollars to the Notre Dame Law School.
A wake will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and from 6-8 at the Schoedinger Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 17th at St. Andrew's in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
