Kosuke Fukudome signed a four-year deal with the Cubs on Wednesday worth about 48 million. Fukudome, 30 years old, was a perennial All-Star in Japan where he was a mainstay for the Chunichi Dragons. He also helped the Japanese team to the title of the World Baseball Classic.
Fukudome hits for power and average. Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said he feels that rightfield is the natural position for Fukudome with the Cubs looking at Felix Pie in center and Alfonso Soriano in left.
