Oregon-Davis to battle former coach

In 5 years at Oregon-Davis, Travis Hannah led the Bobcats to the pinnacle of high school success. Last march, they celebrated together---the greatest of acheivements--winning state.

Now, 9 months later, they will be together on the court again, but on opposite sides. Hannah is now the coach at John Glenn and battles his former team Wednesday night.

"I have a lot of respect for them,” Hannah explains. “I hope it goes both ways.”

“That's what is going to be fun. Seeing those relationships and seeing those people again. Hopefully they won't get on me too badly during the game."

Ryne Sweeney is the lone returning starter for Oregon-Davis this season. He can already anticipate some strange moments this evening.

"I’ll probably catch myself looking over at him a couple of times and looking for the plays but it will be the wrong coach,” Sweeney said with a smile on his face.

“So it will be different but I think we will have a good time."

The weird moments may also be there for new O-D coach, Ben Snyder, After all, the coach on the other bench knows the Bobcats’ players better than Snyder does.

"That's probably scary. He probably does know our personnel a little bit better,” Snyder confessed.

“I think we are both more focused with our new systems in two new places probably more than this game and what it might mean to fans."

Most importantly, its a game that both teams need to win. John Glenn is 1-4. The defending state champion Bobcats are 0-3.

Hannah believes he has one other advantage in this game. He won’t have to deal with the emotions of playing in his old gym. The game will be played at John Glenn.
